So I'm reading this book. One of those old life-tutorials self-help books. I personally think it's great, and I recommend it to anyone and everyone.
If you want details:
Life 101 by John-Roger & Peter McWilliams ©1991
(seriously, this book is old.)
I think I may have mentioned it before. Most likely. I'm not even sure, I forget and I have the memory of a drunken squirrel after the holidays. (anyone seen that fermented pumpkin seed video?)
But anyways, it talks about making a sanctuary. A happy place. Whatever you call it, it's important that you know yours. Build it. This is kind of a wacky out there, kinda cheesy idea, but keep an open mind and be imaginative. Create it based on your feelings and personality and what makes you comfortable. Here are the key components:
Entryway
How people, with your permission, or yourself can enter your sanctuary.
Light
Represents pure goodness and cleansing. A simple white bright light. Like what it's named after, the light is everywhere and behaves as a wave and a particle. It could have religious meaning to you or not, whatever works for you.
Main Room
Can be compared to the living room or a hotel lobby. This is the place that leads to all places.
People Mover
Device to move people. Whatever you want it to be, when it places people in your sanctuary they are immediately cleansed by the Light.
Info Center
You can get all kinds of information as long as it's truthful and for your good and the good of others. Create it as you please. Library, computer database, tons of mini-me's in an office, etc.
View Screen
Like a movie theater, almost. Or film projector, if you want to go old school. Here you can see your past, present, and future. Happy or good things are surrounded by light, bad things are not.
Ability Closet
Full of "costumes" (literal and figurative) that you can change into and become what you want to be. Kind of like instant dress up.
Ability Practice
You can train or put into practice the person that you want to be while in your suit.
Health Center
Who's the most healing and helpful person or type of person you can imagine or know? Here they can heal you of anything.
Playroom
This one's kind of cheesy, but here you can find every toy you've ever wanted, from your childhood to your current age.
Sacred Room
Your sanctuary within a sanctuary. Inner peace and quiet. Meditation. Keep it calm.
Master Teacher
This person is your guide, your mentor. He or she (or it) knows you more than you know yourself, and you have to discover your teacher and the important things they have to say.
So what would your sanctuary be like? This is a bit like that Mirror of Erised post I did a long time ago, but more in depth and on a different level. There are so very many components to creating your haven. I'd really like to know what yours is like.

I'M LONELY. You don't even have to sign in as anyone, you could troll the heck out of this blog if you really want to. Even if your comments are irrelevant or you start a comment war with yourself I don't mind.
I'd love to hear from you!
